More practice!  Welcome back to the rhythm lesson.  We almost have it, so stay with me and keep up the great work!

Below is a chart that lists all the note names and values.  Take a couple minutes to review and memorize what each note looks like and how many beats it gets.

Think about this story or analogy:  Joseph, Jade, and Joselynn are in a pizza eating contest at the fair.  In round one they have to eat 1 piece of pizza in one minute.  That is like the whole note.  In round 2 they have to eat 2 pieces of pizza in one minute--that is like the half notes.  In round 3 they have to eat 4 pieces of pizza in 1 minute--this is the quarter notes.  In round 5 they have to each 8 pieces of pizza in one minute--you guessed it the eighth notes.  In round 6 they have to eat 16 pieces of pizza in one minute.  Whew!  Those were the sixteenth notes.  The pizza slices never get any smaller, they just have to eat them faster.
